Class Outing at Sentosa

Sentosa

Sentosa2

The turn-up rate for this was sure high =)

Woke up early just to check for the details, since it was posted after I slept last night, haha. Eventually most people turned up in time (though still way off the original meeting time) at Vivocity before we left for Tanjong Beach.

The moment we reached there, we started eating all the food prepared, which was quite a spread. I don’t think I can cook as well as Pin Yan and Xin Yi though. This was followed by some ball games and then the most exciting part was the fun Shuyang, Linyi, Woon Yang and Louis had in the sea, which goes somewhere along this line…

Dump

The bulk of the class then went for cycling, but I can’t cycle *cries*..

Then 5 of us remained behind to play cards — the can’t-be-more-representative game of our class. Those people who went cycling came back sooner or later and some of us eventually left at around 4+pm.

Though this outing may not be as exciting, it was one where we had fun outdoors and get sun-tanned (maybe not as badly as me), compared to the usual pool or movie outings. Not to forget, this is also a farewell party to our favourite GP teacher, Miss Ong =) Thanks Pin Yan and Xin Yi for organising this class outing. Even though not everybody may be contented, but I’m sure you have tried your best too.

I’m feeling pretty burnt now =/

Anticipation

Let’s wrap up this week!

Finished enjoying one of the best drama I’ve seen this year, Bara no Nai Hanaya (aka The Flower Shop without Roses). Apart from great actors and highly emotional scenes, the unexpected storyline is what definitely makes this stand out from the usual romance dramas. Although the romance factor is not anything exceptional, I liked its portrayal of the darker side of humans, which also makes the plot more interesting. While the plot may be complicated at times, the actors also put off a great show because they were quite natural and not exaggerative like some others.

The soundtrack is also something worth listening on its own after watching the entire drama, though still second compared to Iryu’s soundtrack (which contains “Blue Dragon” which is sooo nice in case you didn’t know =P)

The synopsis doesn’t show anything much, so just watch it xD

Guessed what, I stayed up to 1.30am yesterday to finish watching Prison Break Season 3.. The storyline has indeed gotten not as exciting, but I think the last few episodes were a relatively nice wrap-up. But it seemed a bit rush since there is only 13 episodes in Season 3. So I shall wait for Season 4’s arrival =)

And so poor me sacrificed my sleep and woke up early for the Research Symposium, which I left halfway during reception because I had to meet my mentor at NTU, together with other applicants. As expected, I was “chimmed” out with the introduction, though I understand it slightly better now. In summary, its just about using a spectroscopy method to determine/characterize some silicon semiconductors.

As easy or interesting it may seem, me and Adrian still has 5 other applicants to compete with.

Rawr!

Time

The 4th dimension.

Its the months that passes so fast, so much so you can’t reach.

Yet, its the minutes that make it seem the slowest ever.

But you still can’t reach it.

Simplicity

Athena Night

I haven’t been updating on my daily routines for quite some time, though I can safely say the past week is just full of tests and more homework…

Nevertheless, it was great yesterday because I finally get to go out and have some fun =)

Started off the afternoon with a 3 hour pool session at Marina Square, with Jun Jie, Shu Yang and Woon Yang. Supposedly a class outing but everybody was late haha. Si Lu, Lin Yi, Jon Tan, Judy, Hu Yuan came later on and we left that place at around 5.30pm, while Tian Tian waited for us to get to City Hall MRT for half an hour. That’s a lot of time wasted =(

The place we had the Athena event wasn’t that bad — comfy seats and pool tables. The events lined up was quite okay though, not anything special in my opinion. So was the catering food.

Not to forget the pool tournament I played with Lin Yi. After a totally unexpected win from our 1st round, we lost in our 2nd round when Lin Yi shot in the 8 ball a minute after the game started haha. But I guess I wasn’t really interested in the tournament after all — they had a time limit of 10 minutes per game and the pool facilities were not up to standard.

It was still a simple and happy day though =D

On a lighter note, I’ve bought Utada Hikaru and Yui’s latest album!! <3

HMV at City hall is still the best, hehe.

Plus a sudden influx of English music =P

Perception

View

Just when you thought everything goes like the way you perceive it to be,

Even when something insignificant crops up, you just didn’t feel right.

You grow to be possessive even without your own knowledge,

And that’s when you get yourself hurt more than it should.

Yet, when you realised you’ve misunderstood the whole matter,

You don’t know whether you should be feeling happy or sad about it.

Perfect?

Paper

I don’t want to reach this stage of perfectionism.

Good as the word “perfectionism” may sound, it’s just ripping my time off.

“Everything in life must be done to your level of perfection”, “You must always reach the ideal no matter what.”

These thoughts just persists.

You spend your whole day on the smallest thing ever. Because if you don’t, you have entirely no mood to move on to other stuff.

This has just got to get away from me somehow.

Not to forget, VBC players can buy the best employee aka Wombat. Because it gives you the most kawaii picture on your homepage with a cool quote like this.

Complicated.

No doubt I like Avril’s songs, but it’s just how I felt today. Perplexed and complex.

But at least I made some decisions I think I needed to. To get out of my comfort zone.

I was reminded of BBI deadline yesterday. So I thought I would give it a shot. 3.5 hours of late night work and we completed our task. I’m pretty satisfied, even though I have no idea whether we could even make it pass the prelims, or even the semi-finals. But at least I tried, to try something out.

Then came the CT session. I had no intentions of being part of anything, but Si Lu nominated me. I could well rejected the offer, yet I gave myself a chance. I knew I was fighting a lost cause from simple logical deductions. The results were obvious, but I’m glad I tried.

Yet, not every step you take will guarantee you success. I need to force that into my head.

Nevertheless, I needed to confide in people. I’m glad that I have my friends around after lessons, to spill everything I needed to. Or even in the library later on, which was supposed to be a productive study session.

It wasn’t an easy path I thought it would be since the start of the year. Forgo your competitiveness. Not as easy as it may seem. Competitiveness not encompassing your academics only, but also your feelings.

For that, there is still some reason why I should love my high school days

Because innocence is brilliance. It’s so beautiful that it makes you wanna cry.

BoA – THE FACE

The Face

Haha, I think I haven’t talk about songs for quite some time.

BoA’s 6th Japanese album actually came sort of 1 month later than the original releasing date in Japan. So I waited pretty long =( But it came at with 2 DVDs of MVs and live performances so I thought it was well worth it.

As usual, her album reached #1 after the 1st week of release on Oricon =)

Tracklist:

  1. AGGRESSIVE
  2. Sweet Impact
  3. My Way,Your Way feat.WISE
  4. be with you.
  5. LOSE YOUR MIND feat.Yutaka Furukawa from DOPING PANDA
  6. Girl In The Mirror
  7. Happy Birthday
  8. Diamond Heart
  9. LOVE LETTER
  10. BRAVE
  11. ギャップにやられた!
  12. Style
  13. Smile again
  14. Beautiful Flowers
  15. Best Friend
  16. Hey Boy, Hey Girl feat.BoA/SEAMO

* Bold ones are my favourite songs in this album

Mini-review

BRAVE & AGGRESSIVE

Both songs actually felt pretty dreamy and R&B in its tune. But its actually these kind of tune that I like =)

LOSE YOUR MIND & Sweet Impact

Sweet Impact would be a nice dance song. Though many have mixed comments about it, I thought it would be great if you watched it with the PV.

LOSE YOUR MIND is a better version in my opinion, as the groove is much better and sounded quite heavy. Its quite short in length so looping it would be better, hehe.

be with you. & Smile again

Ballads!

The recent ballads by BoA are pretty nice in my opinion, though I still loved those from the Made in Twenty era. I won’t say this is where she is strong in, but you will never fail to find a few good ones from her albums.

Happy Birthday

Wahaha, my favourite one from this entire album.

No, its not any remake of the one you always hear on your birthday. Instead, this is a pretty upbeat and cheerful song that is sure to brighten up your day xD I usually prefer slower-paced love songs but I thought this was great.

Final Comments

This album wasn’t bad at all and it’s definitely worth buying for the 2 DVD version =)

But, BoA’s recent songs haven’t been as good as the past in my opinion, especially compared to those during the Best of Soul era. They just sounded more mainstream and nothing new, and not something I would loop for multiple times on my iPod.

That’s why most of my favourite BoA’s songs can date back to 2003.
