I think this would be good enough to describe today.
One of the best J-Movie I have seen so far — Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu.
Far-fetched the plot may seem (a little paranormal), it was really touching when I watched on because both the acting and story are great. Everything was natural. Even though it’s still a romance (and family) story, it isn’t filled with lots of lovey-dovey scenes. It’s the simplicity the characters had that made it touching.
Nevertheless, what I loved most was the ending, which tied in really well. Cinematography wise was great too, because the sceneries are quite breathtaking. Just get ready your box of tissue =)
I’m not very good at writing summaries, but I thought this one would be sufficient enough to cover this movie.
If you knew that a certain choice leads to a certain future, would you still take that path knowing the end, or will you make a different choice leading to a different one?
First up was Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. Didn’t really expect much from it initially, since I don’t really like anime. But I thought it was generally ok — Plot-wise isn’t as good and the whole movie ended like an anime episode. It’s only part 1, I’ll forgive it =)
What I liked was the battle scenes, where the tension builds up *duh*, the firing of missiles and stuff. And the monsters looked really cool, unlike all the usual creeps you see. And Evangelion has lots of symbolism if you notice — for example, the cross shaped explosions and also the crucification of the 2nd Angel at the headquuaters. Read here for more info.
And I hope the upcoming ones in this tetralogy would be better =)
Then I rushed home to watch this movie “Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru” that Hanzhe recommended me yesterday!
Another simple and pure love story, which I thought was pretty nice. The plot is not bad, but I thought it could have been filmed in such a way that the ending would seem more touching.

I need to lighten my mood.
So I completed watching Iryu Season 2, which was nearly as fantastic as Season 1, though a bit more dramatic at parts. Mainly revolves around how the main surgeon (who is so damn cool) managed to form a new and better medical team and save lots of people ^^ It got much more bio-related than before, which can get quite complicated if you are watching it with subtitles. But the operating scenes were great =D
I want more medical dramas =)
And I went to buy BoA’s new album <3, which is nearly 1 month overdue from the original releasing date.
Wanted to buy it on Thursday, but I realised it was so expensive that I didn’t have $29 for the CD+2DVD version in shop after a 3 hour pooling session at Cineleisure. I haven’t tried it out but I think it’s going to be great =)
I thought I was going to be on a indefinite hiatus from designing and I turned out designing a blog skin for my class blog… after all the boring tutorials on Sunday. Clocked 5 hours in total — designing and coding =)
I personally think its one of my best designs, hehe =D
Went for Ne2twork today with Adrian and met some other people there. And guess what, in less than an hour, I’m already part of the Preparation Committee for the upcoming Valentine’s Day stall to be set up. Basically in charge of sourcing the cheapest price out there for our products..
I hope it’s gonna be cool.. And going to try out Recre Badminton tomorrow =)
And Marvin with triple science combination is trying out 5 CCAs..
Not to forget more J-Pop! January and February is packed with quite a lot of releases from my favourite few artistes
Heart Station / Stay Gold by Utada Hikaru! — Loved it cas she just maintains that futuristic tune and nice groove in her songs
diverge by mihimaru GT — Another ballad after quite some time, though I didn’t really love it. They are still better at funky tunes =) Nevertheles, my favourite song from them is still a ballad 0.0
Ash Like Snow by The Brilliant Green — Sounds pretty nice and rockish..
Namidairo by Yui — Her 1st song with a Japanese name.. Ironic haha. Nice ballad and she finally returned to a acoustic tune in this one.
Plus I’m recently addicted to Every Little Thing’s past ballads and they releasing another single in February.
Though I haven’t gotten any previews of melody.’s latest single..
Album release? BoA (must buy) and Yuna Ito!
Gosh, how many of my favourite few singers have I named in just this post..
But anyway, completed 2 doramas before the start of the year.
Kurosagi was one I didn’t really like. Action and crime genre are one of my favourites, but this dorama didn’t do it justice. Every episode seemed the same, even though each episode was a mini-story — Its like you know what was going to happen.. There were also famous actors like Yamashita Tomohisa and Horikita Maki, it didn’t pull off well. I couldn’t even understand certain episodes. Last 2 episodes were slightly more interesting, which sort of salvaged it.
And I moved on to the most anticipated dorama of the Autumn 07 season, Galileo. Bigger stars like Kou Shibasaki and Fukuyama Masaharu starred in this dorama. It was nearly the same production method as that of Kurosagi — where new casts are introduced each episode, making each episode a mini-story. I would say I preferred this dorama though, since there were supernatural elements inside, which made it more interesting. Also pulled off with a nice ending =)
But I can’t wait to watch Iryu Season 2.. I just can’t find it as of now =(
Karei-Naru Ichizoku is like a total tragedy drama haha. Revolved around this rich family and also father-son hate story, set in the period of financial restructuring in Japan. Pretty focused on the family itself but also much involved in the economy of Japan at that time.
But other than the background, there were quite a lot of characters, which made it a little confusing for me at the start. The usual drama twist still exists but I thought the ending wasn’t properly wrapped up.
Thanks to recommendations, I also watched Haken no Hinkaku. To put it simple, its a workplace + comedy drama. Every episode has its emotional part which I liked. Definitely a light-hearted one to watch =)
I really hoped I lead a life like that of the main character here..
Lastly, the popular hit — Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. One of the best from the High School genre definitely, together with comedy and a little romance. I guessed the other students, other than the main cast, were also portrayed pretty well. Though a comedy, the emotional parts (those that make you feel like crying) are there too, especially the last part of the whole drama =’(
I also loved the theme songs =) But I have no plans to watch the Taiwan version — 花樣少年少女, haha.
Recently, I’ve been addicted listening to both Celine Dion and Yuna Ito’s version of this song =) I love both versions anyway. Celine Dion’s version sounded more dramatic while Yuna Ito’s version sounded more lovely though. Listen to it here.
Both of them will also be releasing a Japanese-English collaboration song on January 18 next year, titled Anata ga Iru Kagiri ~A WORLD TO BELIEVE IN~. Heard it for a few times and I thought it was a pretty nice song.
Here’s the Promotional Video
And you can also see their interview here. Quite cute haha.
Densha Otoko was quite an entertaining drama, based on this real life story of how a guy managed to woo a lady he likes with help from his BBS channel (something like ICQ) friends. I really loved how the protagonist was portrayed here — a total otaku, but able to overcome his obstacles as every episode passed.
Then I moved on to Ichi Rittoru no Namida’s Special Episode. 2.5 hours worth of story, but it wasn’t anything much other than a major recap on the original drama with a mini-plot. Though the original drama is really nice =) But I still can’t get hold of Sekachu’s special episode to watch =/
I think I loved this one better — Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. Abe Hiroshi acted this guy who has some pretty weird mannerisms, and also how he managed to overcome his loneliness after he met a few people. Though the plot wasn’t very exciting, which was basically about his daily life, I loved the acting put forth by Abe — his subtle actions combined with his character that makes the drama worth watching. The characters seemed more memorable than the plot itself I guess. Filming method wise was also a little special, its always focused on the same few locations and symbolic items or places. Even though its just a light comedy, I enjoyed it very much =D
I should count the amount of doramas I have watched this 2 months lol.
